Byron-
Being a trombone player, I associate the trombone and other brass instruments with celebration. It can be to celebrate a touchdown or in New Orleans, Mardi Gras. So that's why I incorporated it along with hands in the air, adding to the celebration.

Darin-
You know him, you love him, you might wish he'd go away... It's Damon, everybody! You know, the guy from Week 226: Pink! Well he's back to CELEBRATE! What is Damon celebrating, you may ask?... WHO CARES?! Damon don't need no reason to celebrate!
Kevin-
There can be many forms of celebrations, like meals, beverages, cakes, decorations, cards, gifts, balloons and more. But all of those things are also fleeting. Meals get eaten, beverages consumed, envelopes torn open and greeting cards read. All those things, and many others are enjoyed in the moment, though quickly turning into barely registering memories, (see exception below) buried deep in our minds. But connections and friendships are different, as they endure, whether those connections are recent, or nearly lifelong. The Weekly Photo Of The Month gang is a great example. In many cases the connections between us are decades old. In other cases we haven’t yet met in person, but have grown to admire each other's photographic efforts. And that is something to truly celebrate.
For Celebrate I wanted to do something simply. Photograph six balloons, to represent Byron, Darin, Paul, Jerry, Don and Elroy, the six other members of the WPOTM. Each balloon a nice primary color to signify our differences. But gathered as a group to show our similarities.
Photographed against the sky, long after sunset. My dream of including the moon in the background vanished when I saw that it was near half phase, and directly overhead in the sky. Not being able to count on clear skies in Minnesota at the end of the week, and only two days away from departing California, adding the moon became a “Maybe next year” idea.
Nikon D850, mounted on a Manfrotto CarbonOne 440 tripod with an Acratech ballhead, Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens set to 52mm, two Nikon SB-900 series flash units on either side of and behind the balloons set to TTL mode, ISO 400, f/8 at 1/250th of a second (flash sync).

Paul-
I don’t really have any comments or observations this week.
Hip, Hip…Ov Vey: (3:16PM) Nikon D5200; aperture priority; 55-200mm lens focused at 66mm; ISO 1000; 1/800 sec at f/14; -2/3EV; Auto WB; and matrix metering. The camera was hand-held. The vertical, linear cropping is intentional…as is the distance from the subject. Post-processing was done in Lightroom and PhotoScape.

Jerry-
My idea was to take the muffin Cindy had left for me and put a tiny candle in the middle, wait until dusk, and sit it on the well used cutting board. So here you go! What a party!
The side story is I put it on my facebook page and several comments came in wishing me a happy birthday. Ok. I am not one year old. I want more than a muffin, how about a Dairy Queen treat and a meal out at Popeyes. I had to comment on facebook and say that I was just goofing around. Maybe I'm celebrating one year of sobriety, of being smoke free, cancer free, one year out of the psych ward, you fill in the blank. Oh well, I thought it was weird how human beings jump to conclusions so quick.
As for technical notes, I used the Sony A6300 with 16-70mm zoom at 48mm. Exposure was 1/60 @ F8, ISO 6400. And I cropped it square. Just goofing around.

I took this with AV, F8.0 ISO800 AWB on a Manfrotto 785B. Camera was a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with a 18-55 lens set at 25. It was taken inside with no flash.
